MY PROFILE
I known in the dance industry, as Lil’J from Pineapple Dance Studios. I work as a freelance Dance Teacher/Choreographer and Drama specialist. I hold B.Ed in Dance and Drama Secondary, but have done many workshops/sessions at Primary level.
I have taught sessional workshops, curriculum and projects, extensively in Schools (Primary, Secondary, Colleges, Universities) and Community Groups and Centres.
I’m an expert in all forms of dance, specialising in Street Dance, Commercial Sassy Fusion, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Nu Flow, Old Skool, Breaking, Locking, Popping, Krumping, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Ballet, Salsa, African, Bollywood, World Dance, Maypole and Circus Skills.
In a school setting, I have taught Dance and Drama and PE at both Primary and Secondary level, including Dance GCSE.
At Primary level: Projects I have worked on within the Curriculum at Primary Schools are: Chinese New Year Dragon Dance, Black History Month, Diwali, Victorian Era, Volcanoes, Industrial Revolution, Greek Mythology, Stone Age and World Dance and many more, including SEN
At Secondary level: I have worked extensively in Key Stage 3/GCSE Dance, including exam-preparation workshops and Moderation also school performances. At Tertiary/College/University level: I have taught many varied sessional Dance workshops and projects, including SEN
In Media: I have worked as a Movement Specialist/Director on TV/Videos/Film. Recently, was a feature character in major film, Artemis Fowl & Lord of the Rings series.
I am a pioneer of teaching Street & Commercial Fusion Dance classes at Pineapple Dance Studios London, where I have been teaching since 1998. My dance routines comprise a combination of Hip Hop, Commercial, Street, Jazz, Contemporary and at times Tap, creating a unique, innovative style. Classes are relaxed, fun and always encouraging.
My work also includes Fashion/Hair Shows, Film /TV, Music Video, Motion Capture, Clubs, Community/Education, Youth/School Projects, Dance Parties, Festivals, PA’s, Special Events, Variety Showcases, Sports Relief.
