For Dance Teachers and Dance Schools

1. What is Dance Teacher Directory?

Dance Teacher Directory (DTD) is an online map and community that helps dance teachers get found and booked by parents, schools, venues, dance companies and event organisers. It’s designed to make it easy for customers to find trusted, local dance teachers and contact them directly.

2. How does Dance Teacher Directory help me get more work?

Being on the DTD map means:

– Customers can find you in your local area

– Dance companies (like Popdance) can pass you paid work

– Other teachers can recommend you for cover or overflow

– You show up in Google searches as a professional teacher

Instead of chasing work, the work comes to you.

3. Is Dance Teacher Directory only for UK teachers?

No – DTD is a global platform. We already have teachers from the UK, Europe, the US, Australia and beyond. Wherever you’re based, you can be found by customers in your area.

4. What kind of dance teachers can join?

All styles and levels are welcome, including:

  • Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary
  • Street, Commercial, Hip Hop
  • Ballroom & Latin

  • Musical Theatre

  • Fitness, yoga, kids dance and more

  •

If you teach movement or dance – you belong on DTD.

5. Do I need to be qualified to join?

Yes, we do ask that you have dance qualifications and teaching experience. You need to be a genuine dance professional.
When joining, we ask teachers to share their:

  • Experience

  • Training

  • DBS (if working with children)

  •
  • This builds trust with customers and companies.

6. How much does it cost to join?

You can join the map from just £5 per month with no contract and no tie-in.
We also offer higher memberships with extra features and benefits.

7. What’s the difference between Bronze and Gold?

  • Bronze (£5/month): Visibility on the map, direct enquiries, eligible for referrals.

  • Gold (£30/month): Everything above plus Popdance choreo, party formats, resources, training and extra support.

8. Can I really make my money back?

Yes – many teachers make their membership fee back with one single booking.
Some Popdance parties pay £185–£270 for one job.

9. How do Popdance referrals work?

Popdance now passes customers directly to independent teachers who are on the DTD map.
You deal with the client, set expectations, and get paid directly.

10. Do I have to accept every job?

No. You choose:

  • When you work

  • What you accept

  • Your availability

DTD is about freedom and flexibility, not pressure.

11. Can customers contact me directly?

Yes – your profile allows customers to contact you without any middleman.
This means faster bookings and better relationships.

12. Is Dance Teacher Directory just for parties?

No – teachers get booked for:

  • Birthday parties

  • School workshops

  • Hen parties

  • Corporate events

  • Weekly classes

  • Cover teaching

It’s for all types of dance work.

13. What if I only want occasional work?

Perfect. Many teachers use DTD for:

  • Side income

  • Holiday work

  • Filling quiet periods

  • Saying “yes when it suits them”

You stay in control.

14. How long does it take to set up?

Most profiles take around 5 minutes to create.

15. Will I get support?

Yes – you’re part of a real community, not just a listing.
You get:

  • Email support

  • Facebook community

  • Regular updates and opportunities

16. Do I need my own website?

No – we can also offer you a mini website and this often ranks higher than personal sites in Google.

17. Can other teachers find me?

Yes – teachers use DTD to:

  • Find cover

  • Refer work

  • Collaborate

  • Build local networks

It’s not just customers – it’s the industry too.

18. How many teachers are on the map in my area?

We purposely keep numbers sensible so teachers aren’t lost in huge lists.
Being early in your area gives you a real advantage.

19. Is there a contract?

No. You can cancel anytime.
We keep it flexible because we want teachers to stay because it works – not because they’re locked in.

If you wish to cancel, you can do this via the DTD website when you log into your account – or simply email us at [email protected] and we can do that for you.

You can also upgrade, downgrade, cancel or return at anytime. It’s all about providing a service that works for you – when you want or need it.

20. Why should I join now instead of later?

Because:

  • Customers are already using the map

  • Dance companies are already referring from it

  • Early teachers get the most visibility

  • Once areas fill up, competition increases

The sooner you’re on, the more established you become.

21. It sounds too good to be true?

The simple truth is this:
We were getting more and more party, class and workshop enquiries, and it reached a point where it just wasn’t sustainable for us to manage everything centrally anymore.

At the same time, we realised two really important things:

  • Customers are happier speaking directly to the teacher who will actually run their party or session, especially someone local who knows the area.
  •
  • Teachers deserve to earn more, because there’s a lot of prep, experience and energy that goes into delivering great sessions.

So instead of acting as the middle layer, we shifted into what actually makes more sense long-term:
👉 becoming a connector and a platform, rather than a booking agency.

That’s where Dance Teacher Directory comes in.

Our role now is to:

  • Build and promote a trusted network of qualified teachers
  • Make it easy for customers and companies to find and book them

  • Support teachers with visibility, opportunities and (if they want it) resources

How do we benefit?
We don’t take commission from your work. We simply run the platform and community through the monthly memberships (£5 for visibility, £30 for full Popdance support).

In other words:

  • Teachers keep 100% of their fees

  • Customers get a better, more personal service

  • And we focus on marketing the platform and supporting the community
